What is it?

Human trafficking is when a woman, child or man is tricked or forced to go with a trafficker to another place and is then exploited, either through forced labour, sexual abuse, or forced begging. A trafficked person could end up in a brothel, working as a domestic servant, begging on the streets, working for a cleaning company or picking crops.

It is a hidden crime so nobody knows exactly how many millions of people are trafficked globally but it affects every continent and every country. Whether it's an origin country where people are trafficked from; a transit country where people are trafficked through; or a destination country where people are trafficked to. Often a country will be all three.
